Finding Exotic Woods

We have come across some very interesting and intriuging projects lately. First was a request for a custom desk made from solid Flame Birch. After searching the continental US, we found some in Wisconsin. It took three long months for the wood to finally get to the shop. We think the desk ended up gorgeous, and made a happy client!

The next project was a solid Peruvian Walnut dining table. The search was on again. No one had 8/4 or 1/4 inch, but after a month of searching we located 5/4 inch in North Carolina. The boards arrived and they are impressive.

The third project is Carpathian Elm panelling in a foyer and stairway. It seems that this species is no longer available and we were told we would ahve to substitute with another Burl. The job was already sold last April - in that time is seems Carpathian Elm has been over cut. We are still trying to figure this one out.
